Immunization Laws

Health

Changes to California immunization law now requires students to have proof of a whooping cough (pertussis) booster shot (Tdap) as well as two doses of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine prior to entrance into 7th grade. If your child does not have the Tdap booster shot and two doses of varicella before the first day of 7th grade, your child will not be allowed to attend school.

We would like to suggest that now is the time for your 6th grader to receive the booster shot and varicella vaccines if they have not already received these. Qualifying booster shots must be given on or after 7th birthday. If your child has already received these vaccines, please bring a copy of the shot record to the school health office. If your 6th grader has not had the required vaccines we suggest you contact your child's primary health care provider. The vaccine is also available at Shasta County Public Health and local pharmacies.

Please bring a copy of your child's shot record to school as soon as possible.
